Rose Gold Obsessed!

11.3.15

I know that according to Pantone ,you know the people who come up the color of the year; have proclaimed that Marsala is the color of the year. However, if it were me who had the power of deciding the color of the year, it would be the color rose gold. I know I'm a bit late on the bandwagon but lately I've been loving every thing rose gold! My second choice is the color copper but that is not the star of the show here, now is it?

Here are some bits in rose gold that I am IN LOVE with!

Gold Drip Mug: Forever 21 $6.50; Bow-Twist Rose Gold Earrings: Wanderlust + Co. $17.50;Rose Golden Complete Eye Set: Zoeva $78.00; Rose Golden Luxury Set $78.00

So are you Team Marsala or Team Rose Gold? Let me know below!

My Spring Must Haves

9.3.15

Hey guys! With spring quickly arriving, I thought that today's post would be just the thing to help us get into the mood for some spring weather. As if we needed another excuse to get out of this miserable weather. Anyway, here are some things I look for in my spring wardrobe!

My Spring Must Haves:

1.     A good neutral colored light/medium weight jacket( i.e. trench coat.) This will keep you warm if the weather turns from sunny and 65 degrees Fahrenheit to rainy and 38 degrees F. Wearing a light outer layer like this will add an extra something to your outfit and can pull together almost any look whether your wearing a casual day dress or jeans and a t- shirt.
2.     Colorful Jumper/ Romper/Playsuit: I don’t know about you but after wearing what feels like every dark neutral color under the sun, I start to crave little pops of bright colors in my wardrobe. That is where a brightly colored jumper comes in to play. These two-in-ones are literally my favorite things to wear in the spring. They come in most spring type colors and are an instant outfit that makes it look like you actually tried to look put together. My favorite ones are floral printed ones and jumpers with different colored top and bottoms, so it looks like you’re wearing a separate top and bottoms when really it’s all one piece! GENIUS IDEA!
3.     A small but roomy crossbody bag: A couple of years ago I was a big bag kind of girl. The bigger the bag the better it was, that was my way of thinking back then. Around September of last year I bought my first Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC in the taupe color with the silver chain and that was what made me a small crossbody girl. They come in so many different colors, they are available at all different price points and they offer you so much freedom. You can put all of your things (makeup, phone, keys, wallet etc.) in your bag and not have to worry about dropping anything out of your bag. Another plus is that you can be wearing a “meh” outfit but wearing this kind of bag will instantly make it look un-intentionally cool girl chic.
4.     Statement Sunglasses: Last spring I was looking for the perfect pair of sunglasses that were classic and understated. I found them in the black Ray-Ban Wayfarers, unfortunately I forgot them in the restroom at Target a few months after I bought them. Fast forward to January of this year and I decided to embrace the concept of wearing sunglasses that stand out.  That’s when I bought my Wildfox “ Club Fox Deluxe” 54 mm sunglasses. If you are a fan of wearing sunglasses that make a statement, Wildfox make great ones! Plus spring and summer is the time to really make a statement with your accessories.
5.     Lipgloss/Lipstick Hybrid: If you’ve been keeping up with all the new launches that different brands have been putting out lately, you’ll know that lip products that have the moisturizing benefits of a gloss but the pigmentation of a lipstick are one of the more popular releases from late last year through this year’s spring makeup collections. My favorite is the Chanel Rouge Allure color and shine lip gloss in the colors pirate and sensible. The first is a true red color and the second is a peachy pink color that is good for everyday use.
6.     Slip on shoes: White, black , leopard print, it does not matter. Pick whichever color you like. These are the shoes that replace my black chelsea boots which I wear nearly every day in the fall/winter seasons. Comfortable, versatile and stylish. What more could you ask for from a pair of shoes?
7.     Lightweight Foundation with SPF: I usually stick with a bit of concealer on any redness or blemishes but if I feel like putting on foundation, I usually stick with one like Chanel’s Vitalumiére aqua. Hands down my favorite one for the warmer months.
8.     Cotton tank tops: These are great for layering under all kinds of jackets, blazers, and cardigans. You can wear them with jeans and sneakers or with cute lacey shorts and heels to dress them up. Definitely a must have as the weather warms up.

Friday Favorites! Week 1

6.3.15

The weekend is here at last! I don't know about you but this week has felt like it stretched on for ages. This probably has to do with the fact that I am on spring break next week. However, instead of going out of town like many of my fellow classmates are doing, I will be here creating content for you all to enjoy on this blog. Personally crowds terrify me and make me really anxious, so staying here makes me perfectly happy and I'm all for an emptier Athens. Everyone wins in this situation. Now, back to what I really wanted to talk to you about: things that I've been using repetitively all this week.

- Dana Fox's blog wonderforest.com
There are many reasons why I am currently OBSESSED with this blog : The entire blog is well photographed, pretty to look at, has a variety of different content topics covered for readers to choose from. My current favorite post for the week is called How to make a product collage in Photoshop. I really struggle with using the Photoshop program and would much rather use other editing software alternatives, but there are just some things ,such as making product collages or collages in general, that Photoshop does while the other programs do not. For this reason, I have found her tips and tricks rather helpful in my attempt to tackle editing using Photoshop.

- Cooking/ Eating Clean
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that my posts have been rather food related over the past couple of days. I've gotten really into cooking foods that make me feel more energized and satisfied for longer periods of time. I've also noticed that me cooking foods that make me feel better on the inside has also made an improvement on my skin's appearance. This makes it a dream to apply makeup on top of, as my makeup routine has become rather minimal lately.

-Whole Foods's prepared foods section.
When I'm in the Atlanta area and feel like eating a bit healthier than the usual chipotle burrito bowl, I like going into Whole Foods to get a mixture of their different foods that are prepared daily at the store. They literally have any kind of food you could want. Yesterday I had a takeout box filled with a mixture of Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Broccoli with different spices, paleo roasted butternut squash, a bit of the superfood salad, as well as a small portion of the garlic roasted kale. A lot of food, I know… but it was AMAZING! If you've never had any of their cooked food, you should try it if you're ever near a Whole Foods Market and are looking for good food that's really good for you as well.

-Suits and Pretty Little Liars
These two shows have taken over my entire life since they came back on TV from their winter break. From the day that their first new episode aired, I was completely hooked. The story written for each character on both PLL and Suits has improved so much from the first season to the point where I'm left waiting anxiously to see what will happen on the next episode. Suits just had their season finale on Wednesday March 4 and I cried a little because of all the events that happened in that one episode. I'm a little sad that it's over until the next season premiers in the summer. In the meantime I have episodes of Pretty Little Liars to hold me over. Can we just talk about how AMAZING this show has become!!! I mean really… every time you think you know what's going to happen, the writer swoops in and throws something at you that you never saw coming and that's exactly what I love about how this show is written. The latest episode was INTENSE though. I literally cannot explain how much I love this show at the moment. If you haven't seen either of these two shows, go and watch them on Netflix or somewhere online. You won't regret it.

-Trench Coat and ripped jeans
My go to look this week has been my Banana Republic trench coat with my ripped knee Jamie jeans from Topshop and a top that I pick out that day. The weather has been the definition of bipolar weather this week and the trench coat makes for a great layering coat because it's not too heavy, the beige color matches most things and the fact that just putting it on instantly makes the outfit look effortless in the coolest way possible. I have a lighter more drapey, loose fitting trench coat but I think I'll save that one for when the weather gets warmer and more consistent.

- Shortened makeup routine
Since my skin has started to look so much clearer now that I'm eating much better, I don't feel the need to put foundation on daily. This cuts down on the time I use to put makeup on in the mornings that I have classes to go to. Instead I pop on concealer, some setting powder, highlight/blush, mascara, lip balm, then lastly I do my brows. All of this takes all of 10-12 minutes maximum, when it used to take me about 25-30 minutes on my previous makeup routine. So I really credit having a good skin care routine to achieving a more natural makeup look in less time.

I hope you all have a great weekend and achieve any and all goals that you may have set for yourself.

Collective Haul: Sephora, Madewell, Nordstrom, Bath&Body Works and More

4.3.15

You know you have a problem, when you have a day off of school to do whatever you want and you choose to go shopping on not one day of cancelled classes but BOTH days. Anyway, the shopping trips that occurred over the past few weeks have resulted in quite a sizeable haul for you all to enjoy today! Without further ado, here is my "Snow Day" Collective haul which includes a little bit of fashion, beauty and other random bits that I've picked up.

Let's start with the beauty category, since that where most of the damage happened. ( insert shameful monkey emoji here )

Sephora, the place where I go to get one thing and end up with a ton of other things I didn't even plan on getting. This store has got to be one of my biggest weaknesses. I swear, I always come out of that store happy but my wallet doesn't always feel the same.

First up we have the Anastasia DIPBROW Pomade ($18) in the shade medium brown. Initially I thought that this shade would be too dark for my hair color, but now I really like the color. This really holds the brow in place while also allowing you to make a natural or bold brow.

The NUDESTIX Contour & Highlight stick($24) was the one product that is in this haul which I didn't really get along with. I don't know if I got the wrong shade or if the coloring of the contour shade didn't go well with my skin tone. It just made me look paler, if that's even possible for a contour to do. The shade that I got was light/medium, so now I just use it as a full coverage concealer and it works great!

Next I picked up the NailInc Spring/Summer 2015 Gel Effects nail polish collection ($29). This has got to be the most gorgeous collection of nail polish shades EVER and they're all in the small sizes so that makes them even cuter! I mean, there is not one shade where I'm like "ewwe, I wouldn't wear that". At the moment my favorite shade to wear from the collection is called Colville Mews, it's such a pretty nude-y pinky shade but I'm also looking forward to trying out the shade Cornwall Road, which is a gorgeous pastel-y blue green/ mint color. I think it'll be perfect for spring.

I've been trying out the small versions of the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil shampoo and conditioner ($31 and $34) and really enjoyed how soft and nourished it made my hair feel, so I went ahead and bought the full size bottles of each. It's a really good shampoo and conditioner if you color your hair a lot or if you just have hair that gets tangled a lot when you get out of the shower.

I've heard great things about the GlamGlow SuperCleanse daily treatment cleanser ($39), so I thought I would get it and give it a try. Oh my gosh guys, this really does what it says on the packaging, on my second day of using this cleanser I could see a noticeable difference. My skin was clearer and it had already pulled out all my other little breakouts that hadn't quite surfaced.

Whilst I was in the aisle of minis (aka the check out line), I thought I'd have a look and spotted something I had never seen outside of Instagram, the Flash temporary tattoos ($22). I got the Sofia ones and they look like a cute way to accessorize. The box that they come in says that they are jewelery inspired temporary tattoos that are waterproof and last for up to four days but can be removed with baby oil or makeup remover. I think it's a really cool concept for the summer time and am really looking forward to trying those out as the weather warms up.

Lastly we have another item from the aisle of miniatures, it's the travel size of the Bumble and Bumble dryspun finish spray ($16). I have the brand's cityswept finish spray, so I'm excited to try this out and see how they work together in my daily hair routine.

I only got one thing from Nordstrom in this haul post and it was the Kiehl's Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter ($48). I have the original Creme de Corps body lotion and loved it so much that I wanted to try out the body butter from the collection. I haven't tried it enough to really form an opinion but so far I like the texture and how fast it sinks into the skin.

Earlier I was talking about the nail polishes that I had gotten from Sephora, well the shopping trip before that I was in Urban Outfitters with my mom and sister when I found some of the coolest shades of nail polish. The sale at the time was 2 for $8 and I got 4 shades of nail polish. I have a weird logic I know. They were the store's own brand UO nail lacquer in the shades: After Hours (multi-colored glitter), Tutu (coppery/rose gold glitter), Super fine (coppery metallic finish), desert oasis ( browny nude color). I love the shades Tutu and Super fine together, they look absolutely AMAZING together!

Next is the fashion category, not too much in this category, so it kind of balances out the excess in the beauty category right?

I was just browsing around in Forever 21 not really expecting to find anything because that store is really hit or miss with me but I ended up finding this amazing trench coat. It's not too structured or heavy like a typical trench coat, so I think it it will be really cute for different outfits in the spring.

The day that I was out shopping with my mom and sister was also the day that I rediscovered my love for Madewell. I remember really loving them for the great quality basics that they do, so I decided to pop in just to see what they had and the salesgirl/stylist helped me pick out a couple of pieces that I fell in love with and don't think I would've picked out on my own. The first thing is the Across V-Neck Top. This is a very simple white sleeveless top that you can dress up or down and it looks amazing on and is very flattering. The other piece I ended up getting is a white and dark blue cropped t shirt. It's not super cropped like a regular cropped top would be, but is just a little shorter than a normal t-shirt would be and the slightly boxy fit helps balance out the proportions of the top. It looks like something that would make you instantly look effortlessly chic.

The last thing that I have to show you in the fashion category is from Urban Outfitters. These sweatpants are the kind of sweatpants that you see girls wearing out and think to yourself, " how do you do it? If I were to wear sweatpants out of the house, I would look like a mess." The fit of these pants are skinny but loose and the same time and can be worn outside of lounging around the house or going to the gym and you'd look 100% presentable. As if they weren't already the perfect sweatpants, it is definitely the softest piece of clothing that I've felt other than the Brandy Mellville Layla hoodie. As soon as I felt it I told myself, " I NEED THAT IN MY LIFE!!"

This last category is the Homewear category and it's probably my second favorite after beauty.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a shameless candle addict, but Bath&Body Works candles are my real weakness in the realm of candles. So when you put me and the Bath&Body Works $12 candle sale together , expect there to be a lot of different smells wafting through the air at my house. At this particular sale I showed remarkable restraint and ended up only buying three of the big 3-wick candles. I got Fresh Water and Sea Salt, LOVE hearts and flowers, and Cinnamon Sugared Doughnut. The one that I am most excited to light is the Cinnamon Sugared Doughnut candle, mostly because it smells like the churros at Disney World. Whenever I smell the candle I get hungry. They all smell amazing though.

Ok now these last few bits from Fiore are the cutest dishes ever! I picked up three of them. Two of the round and one in a heart shape. The two round ones have different designs each on them. One has a picture of a rabbit which reminds me of the peter rabbit story from when I was little and the other little dish has a picture of a cake and has a saying written on it that says" live and work with integrity and everything else is a piece of cake". I use the heart shaped dish for my little rings that I wear stacked; I use the small rabbit dish to hold my every day brow product and bobby pins. Those two sit on my make up table, while the dish with the cake on it sits on the table beside my bed and holds spare bobby pins and my hand cream that i use before bed. They were such a bargain too at $4 a piece, you can't beat a price like that for such adorable little pieces of decoration.

That's everything I bought from the past couple of weeks. Do you enjoy reading/watching hauls? What are some things that you enjoy doing if you randomly have a day off of school or work? Let me know in the comments section. I hope you have an amazing rest of your week and hope you enjoyed this haul post!

MakeUp Mondays! March 2, 2015

2.3.15

Hello! Its Monday again and while I used to dread Mondays, [ the whole waking up early  and wearing actual going out clothes just is the bane of my mornings! :(  ], I have recently had a whole new outlook on Mondays. I’ve decided to use this day as a fresh start to my week, sort of like a reset button.
Now that my new found love of Mondays has been thoroughly explained! Here is my look that I have been loving to wear. It’s a very fresh faced look with just a bit of Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer to cover up any spots, redness and dark circles that I have. For the eyes I have gone for nothing to dramatic, just a couple coats of the Tarte Gifted Mascara that I’ve been loving and a swipe of the Maybelline color tattoo cream shadow in creamy beige. This gives the eyes a wide awake look, even if you’re running on a few hours of sleep! What really makes this look however is a bit of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Pink Quartz. It’s a very low key highlight/blush that gives a hint of color to the cheeks along with a glow that makes the face look healthy and alive. Finally to top of the look, I went with the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Medium Brown for a bit of a defined brow look.
This look literally takes about 10 minutes tops,so even if you’ve slept past your alarm and have no time to get ready; this look will help you look put together without taking a ton of time or effort! I hope this helped with the ever daunting task of getting ready on a Monday morning!
Have a great week and remember that YOU have the power to make each day a new and great one!

Happiness: How Do We Make The Most Of It.

27.2.15

Happy Friday everyone!! First off I want to take this time to say thank you to each one of you that happen to stumble upon this blog and choose to read it. After watching Amelia Liana's video on her channel about being happy today, I felt something that I hadn't felt in a while. I felt INSPIRED. Inspired to tell each and everyone in my life that meant something to me just how special they were to me and how grateful I am to have their presence in life.

Her video is called, How To Be Happy: My Tips & Advice; in this video she talks about how she finds the positivity in negative situations and tips on how she has cleared out all the negativity in her life to be happier. An example she gave was taking the time to think about the people you are spending time with and asking yourself if any of them are putting a downer on whatever it is you are doing and taking steps to remove them from your life. One tip she gave that I particularly identified with was taking a notebook and writing down why I was upset about a situation and coming up with a few positive things that might have come out of it.
Anyway that video led me to the thought that I should thank the people who click on a link that has led them to this blog, so thank you and you should all go and check out her youtube channel if you haven't already because she makes amazing and hilarious videos that are so enjoyable to watch! Her channel is called AmeliaLiana and she's one of my favorites to watch! So think positively and I hope you all have a fantastic weekend! What are some things that help you be happy in your lives?

What's On My Face! #MakeupMonday

25.2.15

Hello, wonderful people! I hope you have had a great start to your week! Have you set any goals for the week? My goal for the week is to find the good in every situation, whether it is a good or bad situation. This is something I'm really trying to make myself work on.  Do you have problems with being too critical or just being a negative Nancy? Try setting a goal for yourself this week and see where it takes you.

Anyway, this post is supposed to be about what makeup products I have been loving and have chosen to include in my makeup look to start off the week!  So without further ado here are the one's that have made the cut this week. I think I am going to make this a weekly thing on this blog so if anyone happens to read this and wants to give me any feedback on if anyone would find this interesting, please give me a comment or reach out to me on any of my social media links. Thanks!
Starting from the upper left hand corner and going clockwise:
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Global Finish ($32.00): This is my go to product when I want a golden-glowy type look any time of the year. I like to use this with an angled powder brush on the tops of my cheekbones to give a really nice lit from within glow. It is definitely a year round staple in my makeup collection.

NARS Blush in Dolce Vita ($30.00): Dolce Vita gives a very natural looking flush to the cheeks and is one of my favorite blush shades in my collection. It can be applied lightly for a light dusty rose color or built up for a intense rosy-browny color that looks amazing with a tan! I personally think that this shade is one that is flattering on most any skintone.

NARS Illuminator in Copacabana ($30.00): If there is one product that can give my skin life when it's absolute crap, it's this one. The pearly color creates the most beautiful, natural looking glow that, when paired with the MAC mineralize skin finish in Global Finish, is GORGEOUS! I have Gabby from VelvetGh0st to thank for recommending this gem in one of her favorites videos! THANKS GABBY!!

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Light2 Vanilla ($ 29.00):  Hands down the best all-rounder concealer that I have ever come across! It covers like the Makeup Forever Full Cover concealer but feels alot nicer on the skin. You almost forget that you are wearing any concealer, which in my opinion is the best feeling there is!

I kept it very subtle and shimmery for the eyes but still kept with the glowy theme.

Barry M Dazzle Dust in the shade 39 Tan ($4.89): A really pretty nude pigment with some glitter in it but not so much that it makes it unwearable for anything other than a holiday party. I don't think that I would have been brave enough to pick it out for myself but one of my best friends from Scotland, Eilidh, sent it over as part of my Christmas gift and I'm so glad she did because I'm obsessed with loose eye shadow/pigments! THANKS EILIDH!!

Tarte Gifted Mascara ($20.00): Length, volume, and it conditions your lashes! What more could you want in a mascara?! I might actually love this more than the Benefit They're Real Mascara! (mock shock horror!)

Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep ($22.00): The lazy girl's tool to thick and perfect but not too perfectly shaped brows. I have the lighter one as well as this dark shade to have a subtler brow shape.
My favorite brow product by far.

MAC Paint Pot in Vintage Selection ($21.00): One part peach, one part shimmery taupey color. Vintage Selection is my preference when it comes to the neutrals in MAC's Paint Pot colors. Most people like soft ochre the best but I think Vintage Selection is a very underrated color and should be given more credit because it really is a wear all base that can be worn when Groundwork is just too plain of a shade for your taste.

Lastly is the finishing touch to this glowy fresh skin look, the lip products:

Chanel Rouge Allure Lipgloss in 15 Sensible ($34.00): This is probably the only lipgloss I have ever tried that didn't make my lips feel like they had lipgloss on. The MAC ones that I've tried have all felt too sticky and just really put me off wearing lip glosses. I've never been a lipgloss girl until I stumbled upon these little beauties. I have to admit, what really pulled me to them was there clicky packaging where the applicator is hidden inside the tube and you push the top of the tube like you would a pen and the applicator comes out! It's genius packaging in my opinion although it might seem a little gimmicky for a brand as high end as Chanel. The color of this gloss is spectacular and the pigmentation is like that of a lipstick. My favorite thing about it is how hydrating it is on the lips without leaving that sticky feeling that most lipglosses are notorious for. A great choice for day or night. Its the perfect balance between a peachy-nude and a coraly-pinky color.

Here is the finished look. It is definitely one of my favorite looks to wear during the winter months when it's not quite full on winter but its not yet spring time. It makes me feel a bit brighter. I hope you all enjoyed this rather in depth explanation of my favorite products that I've decided on using during the week! Again please comment below if you think that I should make this a weekly thing because I enjoy reading people's opinions on products but you all might think this is as boring as bricks. So yeah, leave me a comment below with your opinion and if you've made any goals for the week! See you guys next time!
Love you all! Xx
